Terms & Conditions

By booking or attending an appointment with The Barking Brew Ltd, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. These guidelines help ensure the safety, comfort, and welfare of every pet in our care—and compliance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

1. Appointments & Cancellations

  • Please arrive on time. Late arrivals may result in a shortened appointment or rescheduling.

  • We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or no-shows will incur a fee. Under 48 hours 50% cost of groom, under 24 hours’ notice full cost of groom.

  • Repeat no-shows will be refused future bookings until all payments have been maid 

  • 50% deposit is required to secure your booking this can be made via bank transfer or over the phone payment. Deposits can be rolled over to future bookings.

2. Health & Welfare

  • It is your responsibility to inform us of any health conditions, injuries, allergies, or behavioural concerns before the appointment.

  • If your pet is unwell or showing signs of zoonotic conditions we reserve the right to decline service for their safety and the safety of others.

  • We don’t not groom dogs in season, if we find your dog is in season at the start of a groom it will need to be collected and the cost of the groom still paid. 

  • We do not groom bitches in pup if you plan on mating your dog or cat we advise you plan grooms around these times.

We adhere strictly to the Animal Welfare Act 2006, which requires that all animals receive proper care, treatment, and protection from pain, suffering, injury, and disease while in our care.

3. Behaviour & Safety

  • Aggressive, highly anxious, or reactive dogs must be disclosed at the time of booking.

  • A handling fee may apply for dogs requiring additional staff, time, or equipment.

  • Dogs showing severe aggression or posing a safety risk may be refused or referred to a behaviour specialist.

4. Matted Coats

  • Severe matting can cause discomfort and skin problems. If de-matting cannot be done humanely, we will clip the coat short.

  • Additional charges will apply depending on time needed to remove marring and the coat condition.

  • We will always prioritise your dog’s comfort and wellbeing over style, this may mean de-matting is done over multiple sessions.

 

5. Parasites

  • If fleas or ticks are discovered, your dog will be given a flea bath immediately at your cost.

  • A cleaning fee may also apply to cover sanitation of the salon.

  • Please check and treat your dog for parasites regularly to avoid service disruptions.

 

6. Injuries & Emergencies

  • While we take every precaution, grooming may occasionally result in minor nicks, clipper irritation, or stress-related reactions. 

  • In the event of a medical emergency, we will seek veterinary care and contact you as soon as possible.

  • Owners are responsible for all veterinary costs incurred while their dog is in our care.

7. Media & Photography

  • We may take before-and-after photos of your dog for social media or promotional use.

  • Please notify us at check-in if you do not wish for your dog to be photographed or featured.

 

8. Pricing & Payments

  • Prices vary based on breed, coat type, size, condition, and temperament.

  • All payments are due at the time of collection.

  • We accept: cash, debit/credit card, and bank transfer (this must be done before collection of pet.)

 

9. Satisfaction Guarantee

  • We want you to love your dog’s groom! If you have concerns, please contact us within 24 hours, and we will work with you to resolve the issue.

Animal Welfare & Duty of Care

We are committed to the five welfare needs as outlined in the Animal Welfare Act 2006, ensuring:

  1. A suitable environment

  2. A suitable diet

  3. Ability to exhibit normal behaviour

  4. Housing with, or apart from, other animals as appropriate

  5. Protection from pain, suffering, injury, and disease

 

By leaving your dog with us, you confirm that you are the legal owner (or acting with the owner’s permission), and that all information provided is accurate and complete.
